FOX NEWS: The following is a redacted text of the presidential daily briefing from August 6, 2001:
Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US
Clandestine, foreign government, and media reports indicate Bin Ladin since 1997' has wanted to conduct terrorist attacks in the US. Bin Ladin implied in US television interviews in 1997 and 1998 that his followers would follow the example of World Trade Center bomber Ramzi Yousef and "bring the fighting to America."
After US missile strikes on his base in Afghanistan in 1998, Bin Ladin told followers he wanted to retaliate in Washington, according to a [deleted text] service. An Egyptian Islamic Jihad (EIJ) operative told an [deleted text] service at the same time that Bin Ladin was planning to exploit the operative's access to the US to mount a terrorist strike.
The millennium plotting in Canada in 1999 may have been part of Bin Ladin's first serious attempt to implement a terrorist strike in the US. Convicted plotter Ahmed Ressam has told the FBI that he conceived the idea to attack Los Angeles International Airport himself, but that Bin Ladin lieutenant Abu Zubaydah encouraged him and helped facilitate the operation. Ressam also said that in 1998 Abu Zubaydah was planning his own US attack.
Ressam says Bin Ladin was aware of the Los Angeles operation.
Although Bin Ladin has not succeeded, his attacks against the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 demonstrate that he prepares operations years in advance and is not deterred by setbacks. Bin Ladin associates surveilled our Embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam as early as 1993, and some members of the Nairobi cell planning the bombings were arrested and deported in 1997.
Al-Qa'ida members (including some who are US citizens) have resided in or traveled to the US for years, and the group apparently maintains a support structure that could aid attacks. Two al-Qa'ida members found guilty in the conspiracy to bomb our Embassies in East Africa were US citizens, and a senior EIJ member lived in California in the mid-1990s.
A clandestine source said in 1998 that a Bin Ladin cell in New York was recruiting Muslim-American youth for attacks.
We have not been able to corroborate some of the more sensational threat reporting, such as that from a [deleted text] service in 1998 saying that Bin Ladin wanted to hijack a US aircraft to gain the release of "Blind Shaykh" 'Umar' Abd aI-Rahman and other US-held extremists.
Nevertheless, FBI information since that time indicates patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings or other types of attacks, including recent surveillance of federal buildings in New York.
The FBI is conducting approximately 70 full field investigations throughout the US that it considers Bin Ladin-related. CIA and the FBI are investigating a call to our Embassy in the UAE in May saying that a group of Bin Ladin supporters was in the US planning attacks
with explosives.

THIS PHOTOGRAPH CHANGED EVERYTHING:
For those of you too young to remember, this is a picture of the My Lai massacre. Americans viewed many horrible images from the Vietnam War but this picture, this massacre, was the final straw.
In 1968 the war-weary Americal, 11th Brigade, Charlie Company had been given orders by their Captain -Ernest Medina- to conduct a "search and destroy" mission in the southern district of Son My at the village of My Lai. The soldiers were led by Lieutenetant William Calley. When the men got to My Lai they expected to confront the Vietcong. Calley ordered the group to enter the village with weapons firing. After it was all over there were at least 300 dead although some reports claim it was more like 500. Of the dead, not one was Vietcong, just women, children and old men. The victims had been shot and stabbed and some were raped and tortured. Witnesses say Calley himself led a group of villagers into a pit and opened fire.
Fortunately, an Army helecopter spotted the slaughter from the air. They quickly landed and then drew arms against their fellow soldiers, and forced them to stand down.
While some members of Charlie Company refused to take part in the massacre, none of them reported the incident. Later Tom Glen of the 11th Light Infantry wrote a letter of complaint about the horrible atrocities committed by several Army units. The letter did not mention My Lai by name but nevertheless was graphic and specific in detail.
The officer who was given the task of investigating the crimes mentioned in the letter was a young Major named Colin Powell. You read it right. Colin Powell.
Instead of investigating the complaints, Powell chose to investigate the soldier who had written the letter. Powell's official conclusion was: "In direct refutation of this portrayal is the fact that relations between American soldiers and the Vietnamese people are excellent."
The inquiry into the My Lai massacre would have ended with Powell's report had it not been for the actions of others. One ex-soldier (Ron Ridenhour) wrote a letter similar to Glen's and wisely sent copies to US congressmen. Seymour Hersh investigated and broke the story of My Lai. Photographs of the massacre -taken by Ronald Haeberle were printed in Australia's Sunday Observer.
The American public was disgusted by the massacre but were incensed by it's cover-up. They were already exposed to a daily onslaught of violence due to press coverage in the trenches. They had watched too many young men and women come home in body bags and draped coffins. Perhaps more than any other factor, it was the images of the war that brought about it's end.
Thirty five years later the powers that be have learned a lot about how to "package" war. They've figured out that they can get away with it as long as they censor the images. This is why the American public doesn't see pictures of the dead in Iraq. This is why photographers are banned from Dover Air Force Base. This is why journalists are "embedded" in Iraq instead of being allowed to follow the truth. Our current administration is well practiced in the art of deception. Colin Powell is just one of the experts.

Gosh, isn't the mainstream media having fun with all this HIV business in the porn business? CNN has been using it as a half-hour teaser all weekend. Drudge is running (well, linking) the story. FOX got an interview with the poor Canadian actress who was infected by her costar. Just eating it up with a spoon and puking it out to you, the huddled massesThe California porn industry gave themselves a 60-day moratorium on the production of adult films because a popular performer tested positive for the HIV virus. His name is Darren and one of his co-stars, named Lara, is also HIV positive. The clinic handling the case in California is The Adult Industry Medical Health Care Foundation. AIM claims there are roughly 65-100 other performers and non-performers who have been exposed to these two people.
California, especially around the city of Chatsworth, is the heart of video and print porn production in the US. It's certainly not the only place that creates smut but it's definitely where the huge money is in that end of our field. A self-imposed shut down is a pretty big deal costing millions of dollars in lost revenue. To us it's sobering news. It's not the end of porn but trust me, we're all paying attention.
I promised you porn industry dirt on this blog so here it is:
The official story you've read or seen tells that Darren contracted HIV while shooting in Brazil in mid-March. He then came back to Cali , got another clean result from an AIM test and shot some more scenes before his current HIV positive test. According to the reports, Lara worked with and contracted HIV from Darren after he came back from Brazil. Lara claims she received a clean test from AIM before she did any work in California. As far as AIM is concerned, Darren is patient zero and Lara is victim number one.
That's not quite the story I'm hearing from the little birdies.
Lara says she had a clean test from AIM before she did the double anal scene with Darren and the other unnamed actor on March 24, 2004. Darren was also supposed to have produced a clean test from AIM after he came back from Brazil and just days before the "DA" with Lara.
What the news reports don't tell you is that Darren and Lara previously worked together in Canada in February, 2004. Before Brazil. Before the notorious "DA' shoot in Cali.
Darren may have given Lara HIV but he didn't give it to her in Cali. It also means that Darren didn't contract HIV in Brazil.
The birdies claim things just don't add up. Less than two weeks after the March 24 "DA" scene Lara was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis and genital warts. These are classic symptoms for the early stages of HIV. The conclusion is either Darren and Lara have different strains of HIV or one gave HIV to the other in early February, 2004.
Either way this doesn't bode well for the heterosexual porn business in California. It doesn't bode well for the AIM. The real problem lies in the belief that tests protect anyone. The real problem is that condom-only porn isn't as luctrative for the makers of straight hardcore in California...
