It's all About the Hair
April 1, 2006 18:47

According to Yahoo Photos, Representative Cynthia Mckinney has been sporting her new do since January of this year. Granted, the differences between her old, structured style and her new style are dramatic. However, Ms. McKinney's beautiful eyes and stunning smile do not change.

I like the new do. As a former cosmetologist, I celebrate natural black hair. I think straightener is evil and corn rows and taut styles cause Alopecia.

Also as a former hairdresser, I've transformed hundreds of people. I know exactly how a new haircut or a an eyebrow wax can make a person look completely different. I've had customers regale me with tales of not being recognized after I changed their looks. Cynthia McKinney looks different but not that different.

My questions are these:

If Trent Lott suddenly decided to stop wearing his toupee and march past security (no special pin!) in the halls of the Senate, would a guard grab his arm?

Would that guard mistake one of his black aides for the Senator?

Would Neal Boortz be telling everyone that Lott's new style looked like a big, pink penis?

If Trent Lott lost his cool and shoved his cellphone in the guard's chest, would the Capitol Hill police press charges?

Just asking...

A Lesson in Journalism
April 6, 2006 15:33

Murray Waas sums it up in the first paragraph:

Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff has testified that President Bush authorized him to disclose the contents of a highly classified intelligence assessment to the media to defend the Bush administration's decision to go to war with Iraq, according to papers filed in federal court on Wednesday by Patrick J. Fitzgerald, the special prosecutor in the CIA leak case.

Congratulations, Murray. If print is dying, you are one of its last, heroic warriors.

From Patrick Fitzgerald's DOJ response (pdf!) to Libby's latest court motion:

Nor would such documents of the CIA, NSC and the State Department place in context the importance of the conversations in which defendant participated. Defendant’s participation in a critical conversation with Judith Miller on July 8 (discussed further below) occurred only after the Vice President advised defendant that the President specifically had authorized defendant to disclose certain information in the NIE. Defendant testified that the circumstances of his conversation with reporter Miller - getting approval from the President through the Vice President to discuss material that would be classified but for that approval - were unique in his recollection. Defendant further testified that on July 12, 2003, he was specifically directed by the Vice President to speak to the press in place of Cathie Martin (then the communications person for the Vice President) regarding the NIE and Wilson.

Meanwhile, Cynthia McKinney apologizes. CNN hauls out warm and fuzzy Rudy Giuliani and for some strange reason, George Bush heard this amazing statement from citizen Harry Taylor in North Carolina:

"I feel like despite your rhetoric, that compassion and common sense have been left far behind during your administration and I would hope from time to time that you have the humility and the grace to be ashamed of yourself inside yourself..."

Oh look, John Kerry is coming up in the situation room...do I smell blood?

Yeah, yeah. I've haven't blogged in a while. I could blame that on a busy work schedule or on the fact that I've had to format my hard drive TWICE this month. The fact is, I'm just a lazy damned Blogslut and I haven't posted because I haven't posted.

Fear not, Blogslut fans. I ain't dead. Just sleeping.
